What Are Foil Labels?
Foil labels use a thin layer of reflective metallic film applied to specific parts of your label artwork, not the entire surface. The rest of the label stays on your chosen material and finish. Where the foil sits, the design catches light with a metallic shine; everywhere else looks like a standard printed label.
We offer foil in two types: 2D Foil, which is flat, and 3D Foil, which is raised so the foiled area has texture you can feel as well as see. Both start from the same metallic film; the difference is whether that film is applied flat or built up with a raised texture underneath.
Because foil is a finish added to an existing label material, you still choose your base material, size and shape the same way you would for a standard label. Foil is one more selection on top of that configuration, not a separate product line.

Why Choose Foil?
Apply the metallic finish only where you want it, a logo, a border or a small accent, while the rest of the label stays on your chosen material and finish.
2D Foil keeps a flat metallic surface. 3D Foil raises that same finish so the foiled area has dimension you can feel.
Foil is available on Crystal Clear, Semi-Gloss Paper, Holographic, Gold Metallic, Silver Metallic, White PP and Matte PVC, not tied to a single stock.
Get a metallic highlight on specific design elements while keeping the base material you already chose for the rest of the label.
How It Looks and Feels
2D Foil and 3D Foil use the same metallic finish. The difference is flat versus raised.

Artwork Considerations
Identify the foil area separately
Foil is applied to specific parts of your design, so the areas that should receive foil need to be clearly identified in your artwork file, separate from the rest of the print.
Fine details and small text
Very small text or fine lines in a foiled area can be harder to hold cleanly than in standard print. We review your artwork and flag anything that may not reproduce well before production.
Alignment with the rest of the design
The foiled area needs to line up precisely with the surrounding print, so keep foil elements clearly separated in your file layers rather than overlapping unrelated design elements.
Flat vs. raised artwork
2D and 3D Foil use the same artwork for the foiled area. The difference between a flat and raised finish comes from production, not from how the file is prepared.
You'll see a proof first
Every order receives a digital proof before production so you can review the artwork before it moves forward.
